Entry requirement
You must have at least three grade 3s and one grade 2 at GCSE, which must include English Language. We accept passes in Level 2 BTEC or OCR qualifications as worth up to two GCSE grade 3s each
Course Overview
Many students studying the BTEC Level 2 Award and Certificate in I&CT will progress to do the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in IT in the next academic year (though this depends on the students showing some aptitude). Some students may go straight into work at a junior level in IT or they may go on to do an apprenticeship, again in the IT industry, or in a different working area.
Successful completion of the programme with a merit grade or higher makes our level 3 IT programme a natural route of progression. You could also explore related apprenticeships or look to start your career at a junior level.
Assessment Methods
Assessment is through coursework and exams. Grades of Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction* are awarded depending on the level of achievement
QE6 Extras / Co-Curriculum Opportunities
You will be part of the Computing & ICT department which is very active in organising enrichment activities. We organise various activities throughout the year such as University trips.
We also organise ‘Technology’ trips to various industries within the country and abroad.
Computing & ICT students are encouraged to take part in taster days, competitions and other trips and activities that are on offer
