Course Overview
Businesses create wealth for individuals and the country. In 2022 61% of UK employment was due to small and medium enterprises. This course has been designed to cover a broad range of fields, be knowledge based with practical elements which will allow progression to employment, a higher apprenticeship or university.
This course is ideal for students who are passionate about business and are either planning on starting up their own business or pursuing a career in business. It is a subject that requires students to learn theories, apply them to real businesses through their research, and assess their effectiveness. Through the use of real-life business scenarios, you will develop an awareness of the business world, and be able to analyse the steps needed to be taken to be successful in the industry. You will develop your skills of independent learning, team work, research, problem solving, communication and organisation.
The extended Diploma is a two year, full time course that meets entry requirements in its own right for learners who want to progress to higher education courses in business areas before entering employment. It can also support learners who want to progress directly to employment in job roles in business or business management and Higher Apprenticeships in the business sector. This course is the equivalent in size to 3 A Levels.

Assessment Methods
Assessment is specifically designed to fit the purpose and objective of the qualification. It includes a range of assessment types and styles suited to vocational qualifications in the sector.
There are both external and internal assessments:
External assessed units:
- Developing a Marketing Campaign. A task set and marked by Pearson and completed under supervised conditions.
- Personal and Business Finance. 2 hour written examination set by Pearson.
- Principles of Management. A task set and marked by Pearson and completed under supervised conditions.
- Business Decision Making. A task set and marked by Pearson and completed under supervised conditions.
